No matter how much we hope this will not result in family conflicts, it sadly will for some. There are many students who want to major in something that they like and enjoy but is not highly valued by society or doesn't make much money, while the parents want their kids to major in something that has a high salary but is less enjoyable. This is frustrating for both parties, as it is important to have a career that you like and can do for many decades, but from the parent's perspective, they are paying thousands of dollars for a degree that they hope will pay off.
To solve this issue, there are different paths. If the student is willing to give up their passion and values money more, then they should just go with what their parents want them to do. However, if the student is not willing to give up their passion, the parents should just let their child do whatever major they want. This is because the student is an adult and can deal with any hardships in the future. Besides, sometimes the major they choose won't be what career they end up having.
